Renee Moncada is an award-winning filmmaker and creative force with over a decade of experience writing, producing, and directing across television, film, and digital platforms. She is the co-creator and co-executive producer of the groundbreaking docu-series Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, which ran for six seasons on the Fuse network and helped bring bounce music to the mainstream.
In 2023, Renee expanded into podcasting by partnering with KPFA Radio and The Pacifica Network to launch The Venus Lounge—a genre-blending, performance-driven podcast that reached over 5 million listeners across Northern California.
Her credits span acclaimed work for major networks including Shark Week (Discovery), Ultimate Factories (National Geographic), Best Ranger (Military Channel), and Chain Gang Girls (TLC). She also directed and appeared alongside her son in In the Pines, a haunting musical short featuring Grammy-winning artist Fantastic Negrito.
Her personal archive captures a rich slice of the Bay Area music scene including underground music & art culture from 1993 to 2005, featuring rare interviews, photographs, and performances from icons like Jamiroquai, Amel Larrieux, George Clinton, D’Wayne Wiggins, En Vogue, and more.
