Renee Moncada Producer | Director
Renee Moncada is a seasoned filmmaker with over a decade of experience producing and directing non-fiction television series, feature-length documentaries, and music videos. She co-created and executive produced the hit docu-series Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce for six seasons. In 2023, Renee partnered with KPFA Radio and The Pacifica Network to create and direct The Venus Lounge podcast, reaching over 5 million listeners across Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. Her feature documentary Life Is, about Oakland rapper Too Short, earned her the Best Documentary Feature award from the San Francisco Black Filmmakers Foundation.
Renee's extensive credits include producing and directing episodes for Discovery Channel's Shark Week, National Geographic Channel's Ultimate Factories, Military Channel's Best Ranger, and TLC's Chain Gang Girls. She also produced and appeared alongside her son in the musical short In the Pines, performed by Grammy Award-winning artist Fantastic Negrito. Renee is also a trusted partner with the USA Boxing Organization, top-tier gyms, and respected boxing professionals, capturing stories and highlights of boxing's top rising stars.
In addition, Renee is a consultant in music licensing and media for the Music Division of KingMakers of Oakland, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the educational and life outcomes of African American boys through music, art, and media.
